caught in a storm
wearing nothing waterproof
except mascara
for a moment
in my reflection
my mother’s face
talking in his sleep
he finishes the quarrel
with his brother
your hand warming mine
reminds me how long I’ve been
waiting
in the supermarket
wavering over the steak -
an old flame
